Director Vetrimaaran has finally put an end to a long-standing rumour that he is teaming up with actor Vijay for the actor’s last film after The Greatest of All Time. At the JFW Binge Awards, the director said, “I met him with a story a long time ago, and I don’t think that will happen. I have told this before, but it went unnoticed. It is not on. I don’t know with whom he is doing it.” The director said that he has wrapped up Viduthalai: Part 2, which will be released soon. When asked about the second part of Vada Chennai, he said it would happen.

Actors Ajith Kumar and Shalini celebrated their 24th anniversary on Wednesday, April 24th. The two enjoyed a romantic meal at a luxury hotel where they also clicked by their fans. Over the years, Ajith and Shalini have chosen to keep their lives private. In a chat with The Indian Express, he said, “I was living in Chennai. I was working. Back then, I used to smoke secretly. So, I came to the balcony to smoke and I noticed a shoot was going on nearby. My brother joined me and we got to know that the shoot was for this particular film starring Baby Shalini. So, it was a small incident when I never thought I would be married to her.”

Moving on, Actor Fahadh Faasil’s gangster comedy Aavesham, directed by Romancham’s director Jithu Madhavan, continues its successful run at the box office. Now, the makers of Aavesham have released a hilarious scene from the movie online, leaving viewers in stitches. In the movie, Rangan ( Fahadh ) is introduced while three college students, central to the film’s narrative, are on the hunt for a gangster who can seek revenge on their behalf against a group of seniors who have been causing them trouble. Initially appearing as the right person for the job, the kids start having doubts about Rangan. Their suspicions escalate after encountering a reel he shared on his Instagram account, showcasing his “talents”.

While actor Fahadh Faasil might be an inspiration for many aspiring actors, he does not believe his films have altered anybody’s life. Speaking at Galatta Plus, Fahadh discussed the movies that have deeply influenced him, naming the Italian film Cinema Paradiso as having the most profound impact. When asked if he believes his films have had a similar effect on his audience, Fahadh said, “No, I haven’t done that. Not anywhere close to…I haven’t changed anybody’s life but Cinema Paradiso changed mine. I have not met anyone who has said that to me.” Fahadh is gearing up for the release of director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Superstar Allu Arjun on Wednesday, April 24th, dropped the teaser of the first single from Pushpa 2. The new track is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, who was also behind the chartbuster music of the first instalment. The new song video shows a glimpse into the world of the film, as the titular character is hyped by the vocals–and also the name of the song–“Pushpa Pushpa”. The vocals, given a techno twist with rhythmic beats, add to the myth-building of the lead, as the montage shows Pushpa doing his iconic pose and ends with the reveal date: “First single ‘firing’ on May 1.” Helmed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil.

Next up, actress Aparna Das tied the knot with Deepak Parambol on Thursday, April 24th at Guruvayur temple in Kerala. Aparna took to Instagram to share pictures from the wedding. Aparna was seen in the traditional Kesav wedding saree with a green blouse and the groom was dressed traditionally. Both Aparna and Deepak are doing well in their respective careers. Aparna’s latest Tamil film, Dada, turned out to be a blockbuster despite its limited budget. On the other hand, Deepak was part of Manjummel Boys, which is one of the highest-grossing films in the Malayalam film industry. Aparna Das will be back on the silver screen with Anand Sreebala and Deepak will be seen in Jananam 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu.

During an award show in Kochi, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal recently dazzled audiences with a fiery dance performance, showcasing his moves to the upbeat tunes of Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth, much to the joy of fans of all three stars. Meanwhile, another viral video from the event captures a heartwarming moment between Mohanlal and fellow Malayalam superstar Mammootty on stage. On the occasion, Mohanlal affectionately planted a kiss on Mammootty’s cheek, eliciting uproarious responses from fans. The duo came together to present an award to legendary filmmaker Joshiy. Mohanlal’s last appearance was in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban, which unfortunately flopped at the box office. Currently, Mohanlal is busy filming for the project tentatively titled L360.

Lastly, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is the first one in Kollywood to make easter eggs and references his trademark. From his first film Maanagaram, the director has a habit of incorporating callbacks or references to some of his favourite films. He is a self-proclaimed Kamal Haasan fan, and in Coolie, a Rajinikanth film, he has made sure to make his idol’s presence felt. All through the teaser, Rajinikanth utters the lines of his iconic song “Sambo Siva Sambo” from the film Ninaithale Inikum (1979), which has Kamal Haasan in the lead role and Rajni in a supporting role. Written by Kannadasan and composed and sung by MS Viswanathan, the song purports a hedonistic life that welcomes the pleasures of the world.
